Dealing with menopause naturally
Menopause, as uncomfortable as it can become when it is
accompanied by hot flashes, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, weight
gain, and mood swings, is a reality for women ages 45 to 60. Menses
stop naturally with the decline of monthly hormonal cycles.
In general, there are two different schools of thought about
menopause. Traditional medicine views it almost as an illness to be
treated pharmaceutically with drug therapy. An increasing number of
women and health care providers, however, favor a more natural
treatment. Both approaches attempt to bring the hormones most
involved in menopause, estrogen and progesterone, into a balance.
Traditional medicine typically promotes two types of therapy,
Estrogen Replacement Therapy and Hormone Replacement Therapy.
However, the side effects are not trivial, according to studies.
They include an increased risk of uterine cancer, fluid retention,
nausea, insomnia, depression, high blood pressure, hair loss, and a
greater risk of breast cancer. Little wonder that thoughtful women
and concerned health care providers look for alternatives.
The answer for many is a natural approach in dealing with
menopause and its symptoms. The hormones impacted by menopause fall
out of balance thus resulting in what is commonly called estrogen
dominance, or too much estrogen. Progesterone levels drop to near
zero, estrogen levels fall by 40 percent. So the challenge, in
brief, is to introduce something into the body that will re-balance
the equation between the two hormones.
AIM Renewed Balance®, in a handy pump container, provides the
body with natural progesterone from a wild yam extract and has other
natural ingredients including aloe vera oil, rosemary extract,
carrot oil, and lemon grass oil to help relieve some of the symptoms
commonly associated with menopause.
Primarily progesterone comes from the ovaries. However, it is
also produced by both the brain and the peripheral nerves. The body
is designed for estrogen and progesterone to be present in
counterbalance to each other. Because progesterone is the first
hormonal change in women approaching midlife, estrogen is in excess
and, therefore, may be said to be dominant.
The natural progesterone in AIM Renewed Balance® is derived from
diosgenin, a phytosterol (plant hormone) found in Mexican wild yams.
It is found in other plants as well, but not in amounts significant
enough to be of value. Diosgenin is converted through a chemical
process into progesterone. This chemical process results in a
molecular structure for progesterone that is nearly identical to the
molecular structure of natural progesterone. Introduction of the
natural progesterone into the body through the AIM Renewed Balance®
pump aids in restoring the balance between progesterone and estrogen
to offset estrogen dominance and the problems that it creates.
For some people, AIM Renewed Balance® acts quickly. But
progesterone deficiencies vary from person to person. Transdermal
progesterone is absorbed through the skin into the underlying fat
area, from which it diffuses into the capillaries permeating the
fat. At that point, it can be taken up in the blood as needed. But,
of course, there is a variance in each person’s absorption rate,
which can account for AIM Renewed Balance® working quickly for some,
not so quickly for others. The complete
